Saul answered David, “You can’t go and fight this Philistine. You’re too young and inexperienced — and he’s been at this fighting business since before you were born.” (1 Samuel 17:33 THE MESSAGE BIBLE)
Truly King Saul’s statement touched David, here was little David in his youth in the face of a champion who had been known with a testimony of his conquest from his youth. Guess what, David replied King Saul and said I also have a testimony; I might look young and inexperienced to you but I have proofs of conquest too.
“And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.” (1 Sam 17:34-36 KJV)
Then in addition, I have an advantage because I am not alone, the Lord is with me “The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.” (1 Sam 17:37 KJV)
So my dear friend, what is your testimony? What have you been doing in the face of your trials and how have you dealt with the enemy called failure, ignorance, lack and addiction amongst others? David was exposed to these enemies also, far away from home and sometimes out in the cold. He refused to let the enemy defeat him or rob him of what was in his care, rather he faced the enemy and subdued them one by one. No wonder his trials became his testimony.
Newsflash: those challenges you are going through are to give you a testimony. They are meant to prepare you for a greater accomplishment. Stop running and start winning, stop being a mere spectator in the event of your own life, stop leaving your life to chance by taking a stand. Have you forgotten you have God and therefore you are not alone? You have an undue advantage, stop embarrassing God with your tears. Yes I agree that I don’t understand, that the case is beyond you but trust me, it is beneath God.
Now look at the situation in the face and say “Challenge accepted”, I am no more running but rather I am allowing God to take over. Then take a step, build yourself; stop hating that course by finding ways to love it, stop quitting and start strategising instead. My friend, it is time to prepare so as to be ready when the time comes. That conquest starts today with every battle won.
