Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29)
Funny how we think we really have freedom of speech and care less what it does to others.
You are given a tongue to speak, not just because you need to express yourself from time to time, but because you need to use it to improve others and encourage them when need be.
It is purely selfish and wrong to think the first priority of speaking is how you feel. Your priority of speaking is actually how others will feel about it. Besides, you speak for others to hear right? The fact is you already know how you feel, trust me, others don’t really need to know.
You really don’t need a speech to show how you feel, It only weakens you and as well weaken those listening to you. God lives in you, and he is the most important person that needs to know how you feel. Speak to him and then he will tell you what to say.
So, next time you want to utter something to someone, try speaking to God first. Your speech will be more of edifying than destructive.
You are a gift to others. So is your speech.
